Ann Arbor Farmers Market: Shop Local
Right now we have a wonderful fall bounty available including pumpkins, hot coffee, cider, mums, fall veggies and more. The Wednesday market continues until Christmas, and Saturday is open year-round. Events this month include a pumpkin glass-blowing demonstration tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and our annual Halloween party Saturday, Oct. 26 starting at 10 a.m. featuring a magician, trick-or-treating and pumpkin decorating. 315 Detroit St. 

Natural Area Preservation (NAP) Stewardship Workdays This Weekend
Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. All participants must complete a release form, and all minors should be accompanied by a guardian. Tools, snacks and know-how provided.
* Saturday, Oct. 19, Buttonbush Nature Area, 1-4 p.m. Help us care for Ann Arbor’s newest nature area by cutting invasive shrubs such as buckthorn and honeysuckle. Meet at the end of Hickory Point Drive, off Foxway Drive.

* Sunday, Oct. 20, Onder Nature Area, 9 a.m.-noon. Join NAP to clear out invading shrubs in order to increase the diversity. Meet on Brookside Drive, just west of Hilldale Drive.

It’s the Last Weekend to Canoe/Kayak this Season
Don’t miss your chance to rent a boat to paddle the Huron River. The Gallup Livery is open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. every day with the last day of boat rentals Sunday, Oct. 20. River trips available from the Gallup Park location on the hour, every hour, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Stillwater paddles in Gallup Pond available from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. with all boats due back by 7 p.m. For details call 734.794.6240 or visit our website.

Register Today for the Chili Open
Sunday, Nov. 17, 10 a.m. at Leslie Park Golf Course. The last golf event of 2019. Shotgun start, two-person scramble format, drinks, chili and prizes. $50/team includes: 18 holes of golf with a cart, prizes, continental breakfast, lunch (hot dog, chips and drinks). Visit our website to register.

Leslie Science & Nature Center (LSNC) Fall Events – Tonight and This Weekend!
Both events are at Furstenberg Nature Area (parking is only available at Huron High School. Use the crosswalk to cross Fuller Road to the nature area, 2626 Fuller Road).

Hike n’ Hootenanny, Friday, Oct. 18, 6-9 p.m. Adults only, 21 years and older. $25 per person ($20 per person for LSNC members). Tickets include one drink ticket. Bring your friends for a fun evening of music, beer and hard cider, dessert and square dancing. We’ll learn about Michigan native wildlife, meet our resident raptors and take a twilight hike. Animal Haunts: Sensational Swamps, Saturday, Oct. 19, 6-8 p.m. 12 years and younger and their families. $10 per person or $35 per family. Enjoy a non-scary fall celebration with a magical performance featuring dancing fairy shrimp, dramatic frogs and other swamp characters! We’ll also have crafts, games, live birds of prey and more. Don’t forget to come in costume! The trail is not safe for wheelchairs or strollers. This is a candy-free event.
