Don’t miss your last chance to play FootGolf this year
You’re invited to an end-of-season FootGolf event at Huron Hills Golf Course, Monday, Sept. 7. The rate to play is just $5 per player, and there is a four-person maximum per reservation. You must bring your own ball. Please call 734.794.6246 to reserve a time. FootGolf will not be offered in 2021 due to a construction project at HHGC, so be sure to get out and play by Sept. 7.

Ann Arbor Farmers Market is the place to be on Saturdays
Saturday, Aug. 15, the Ann Arbor Farmers Market, 315 Detroit St., is open for onsite sales, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. (and on Wednesday, Aug. 5). Shoppers will find peaches, blueberries, sweet corn, tomatoes, peppers, all kinds of vegetables, herbs, flowers, plants, meat, eggs, cheese, bread, honey, baked goods, coffee, hot sauce, maple syrup, pierogis, Mediterranean food, masks, soap, candles, jewelry, and more! Preordering from select vendors continues with curbside or walk-in pickup 7 a.m.-noon. For preorders, contact the vendor directly from our directory. We are accepting cash, and tokens for credit cards and SNAP/EBT/P-EBT are available at our market office window. While shopping and picking up preorders, please follow all physical distancing and safety guidelines posted and communicated by market staff. All vendors and market staff are required to wear masks and masks are required for customers as well. You’ll find additional information on our website, www.a2gov.org/market.

Sign up for Love a Park Days events

Lend a hand, give your time and join GIVE 365 to help beautify and clean up a park that needs a little love and attention. With over 160 parks in the park system, there are lots of ways to support park maintenance and beautification efforts. We bring the music and tools; you bring the energy and desire to make a difference – and together we make a beautiful parknership! All volunteers must register prior to the workday.   • Sunday, Aug. 16, 1-3 p.m., Veterans Memorial Park, 2150 Jackson Ave. Meet in the parking lot closest to the pool and ice arena building. Register by emailing volunteer@a2gov.org. Help maintain the garden beds around the facility. We will be hand pulling weeds and spreading mulch.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 26, 4-6 p.m., Burr Oak Park, 601 Burr Oak Drive. Help weed the playground areas and spread wood chips. This is no small task! Some heavy lifting will be needed to complete this project and we’re looking for your help! ​

Natural Area Preservation Workday

Saturday, Aug. 22, Olson Park, 9 a.m.-noon. Are you a butterfly lover? If yes, then Olson Park is a must-see! At least 57 species of butterflies have been spotted in this park alone. Join us in removing invasive plants from the park to increase the quality of the habitat in the park for butterflies and other wildlife – you just might observe a beautiful butterfly in action! Preregister through the websiteParticipants must wear a mask and maintain at least 6 feet of physical distance from others at all times. Please wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and gardening gloves. All minors should be accompanied by a guardian. Compost bags and know-how provided. Meeting location will be provided after registration.
