AA Library Coming Soon: Concert | Passports: Piano Music Across the Seven Continents Feb. 5

When: Wednesday February 5, 2020: 7-8 p.m.

Where: Downtown Library: Multi-Purpose Room

Join pianist Alissa Freeman, doctoral candidate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Michigan, for an interactive, visual, and musical trip around the globe! This concert will highlight pieces written in or about each of the continents, while engaging in discussions about how people from different cultures may use music as a mode of expression.

Alissa Freeman is currently pursuing a DMA degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Michigan. While frequently performing with orchestras, ensembles, and as a soloist, she has also maintained an active private piano studio since she was 14 years old. As a performer she invites audiences to have new experiences in classical music by incorporating and contextualizing more diverse programming. Inspired by materials from research trips across Germany, she recently presented lecture recitals on Clara Schumann. Alissa is currently presenting her series Passports: Piano Music from Across the Continents in schools and community centers throughout the United States.
