Fifth Avenue from Liberty to William and William from Main Street to Fifth Avenue: Thursday, Aug. 22-Saturday, Aug. 24. As part of the DDA/city’s William Street Improvement Project, the intersection of Fifth Avenue/William will be closed to through traffic for water main installation.
For Fifth Avenue, southbound traffic will be detoured westbound on Liberty Street to southbound on Fourth Avenue to eastbound on Madison Street to Fifth Avenue.
For William Street, eastbound traffic will be detoured northbound on Fourth Avenue to eastbound on Liberty Street to southbound on Thompson Street to William Street.
Local traffic will be maintained. Pedestrian through traffic will be maintained on one side of the street at all times.
South State Street from Huron to East Washington: 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019. Over the weekend of Aug. 14, South State Street will be closed to traffic from Huron to West Washington for utility work.
The southbound traffic will be detoured east onto Huron Street then south on Fletcher Street then west on Washington Street and back to State Street. The northbound traffic will be detoured east on Washington Street, then north on Fletcher Street, then west on Huron Street and back to State Street.
Pedestrian traffic will be maintained on one side of the street at all times.
Broadway Street near Plymouth Road: Monday, Aug. 19-Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019. Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, Broadway Street near Plymouth Road will be closed to most vehicle traffic. Southbound traffic will be detoured south on Broadway Street to eastbound Plymouth Road. Southbound Broadway Street traffic will be detoured north on Broadway Street to westbound Plymouth Road.
Local businesses will have access maintained with limited interruption. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained along Broadway Street, initially along the north side of Broadway Street.
Local traffic will be maintained with the full closure initially at Traver Creek. The full closure will move southward as utility and road construction progress. Emergency vehicles shall follow the detour.
West Liberty between South Seventh and West Stadium Boulevard: Wednesday, Aug. 21-Friday, Aug. 30, 2019. Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, West Liberty Street will close to traffic in the westbound direction between South Seventh Street and West Stadium Boulevard for road resurfacing and restoration.
During this closure, traffic will be detoured southerly on South Seventh Street, westerly on Pauline Boulevard, and northerly on West Stadium Boulevard back to West Liberty Street. The contractor will maintain one-way traffic on West Liberty Street through the construction area with one lane operating in the eastbound direction. The contractor expects this closure and the related work to continue through Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, weather permitting.
Dhu Varren Road from Omlesaad Drive to Foxridge Court: Monday, Aug. 12-Friday, Oct. 25, 2019. Weather permitting, beginning Monday, Aug. 12 thru Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, Dhu Varren Road, from Omlesaad Drive to 200 feet east of Foxridge Court, will be reduced to a single lane during daytime work hours, controlled by traffic flaggers.
Hill from South Forest to Church Street and Church Street from Hill to Willard: 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, Hill Street between South Forest and Church will be closed to traffic for duct bank work by DTE/Corby Energy Services.
Eastbound vehicles be detoured to East University, then Willard, then to South Forest Avenue back to Hill Street. Westbound vehicles will be detoured to South Forest, to Willard Street, then to East University, back to Hill Street. It is anticipated that Hill Street will be open on Aug. 17 by 5 p.m.
Beginning 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, Church Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between Hill and Willard. Northbound traffic will be detoured to westbound Oakland Avenue, then northbound East University, then eastbound Willard, back to Church Street. Southbound traffic will be detoured to westbound Willard to southbound East University to Oakland Avenue, then back to Church Street.
Greene from Hoover Avenue to Kipke Drive: Monday, July 22 at 9 a.m. – Friday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. Beginning 9 a.m. Monday, July 22, Greene will be closed from Hoover Avenue to the north side of Kipke Drive. Hoover Avenue will continue to be closed to through traffic between Main Street and Greene, and between Greene to the west side of Division. Hoover Avenue will also continue to be closed to Westbound traffic between Division to State Street.
Beginning Monday, July 22, two lanes of traffic will also be shifted to the east on State Street at Hoover Avenue to allow for curb removal and replacement on the west side of the intersection. This will be a 3-day operation. Northbound traffic on Greene will be detoured on Main Street to Hill. Southbound traffic on Greene will be detoured on Hill to Main Street. Eastbound traffic on Hoover Avenue will be detoured on Main Street to Hill to Packard to State Street. Westbound traffic on Hoover Avenue will be detoured on State Street to Packard to Hill to Main Street.
Fuller Road, Fuller Court to VA Hospital: 9 a.m., Monday, July 8-3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, 2019. Due to electrical bank work, eastbound Fuller Road will be reduced to one lane from Fuller Court to the VA Hospital.
Ann Arbor-Saline Road & South Main Street: Monday, June 24-TBA. Traffic on Ann Arbor-Saline Road between West Eisenhower Parkway and South Main Street as well as South Main Street between Ann Arbor-Saline Road and Scio Church Road, will be reduced to one lane in each direction at separate times, north and southbound, to perform path and ramp work.
Hoover, Greene and Hill Improvement Project & DTE State Street Station Sub transmission Duct Bank Project and (Update) South State Street Concrete Pavement Repair Project: 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2-3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29. Beginning 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, the following traffic control will be in place:
Aug. 2 at 9 a.m.-Aug. 5 at 9 a.m., the detour for northbound South State Street between Oakbrook Drive and Stimson Street will change to east along East Eisenhower Parkway, then north along South Industrial Highway, then west on East Stadium Boulevard, then north on Packard Street back to South State Street.
South State Street will be closed in both directions between Hoover Avenue and Stimson Street. Southbound South State Street will be detoured south on Packard, west on East Stadium Boulevard, south on South Industrial Highway, west on Stimson and back to South State Street. Northbound South State Street will be detoured east on Stimson, north on South Industrial Parkway, east on East Stadium Boulevard, north on Packard, and back to South State Street.
Beginning Aug. 5 at 9 a.m., the previous traffic control for northbound South State Street will be removed and traffic will be open in both directions between Oakbrook Drive to Stimson Street. South State Street will still be closed in both directions between Hoover Avenue and Stimson Street.
(UPDATE) Beginning Monday, Aug. 19 at 9 a.m., the southbound lanes of South State Street between Stimson and Oakbrook Drive will be closed to traffic. Southbound traffic will be detoured south on South Industrial Highway and west on Eisenhower Parkway back to South State Street. Northbound traffic will continue to be maintained in that direction.
Additionally, Henry Street between South State Street and White Street, and Mary Street between East Hoover Avenue and Benjamin Street will temporarily become two-way traffic for the purposes of maintaining access to residential driveways for the duration of the South State Street closure.
Only local traffic and driveway access will be permitted on South State Street between Granger and Stimson and between East Hoover and Arch.
The closure will remain closed until 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29.
Fourth Avenue: July 22-Aug. 16, 2019. Fourth Avenue from Huron Street to Washington Street will be closed for underground gas utility work by DTE.
Southbound Fourth Avenue traffic will be detoured: westbound on Huron Street to southbound on North First Street, eastbound on Washington Street to South Fourth Avenue. Northbound traffic will be detoured westbound on Washington Street, northbound on Main Street, eastbound on Huron Street to North Fourth Avenue.
William Street from Fifth Avenue to Division: July 22-Friday, Aug. 16, 2019. Westbound William, between State and Division, will be closed to traffic for road resurfacing. Westbound traffic on William will be detoured northbound on State Street to westbound on Liberty to southbound on Fifth then back to William. Eastbound traffic will be maintained.
Pedestrian through-traffic will be maintained on one side of the street at all times.
Beginning on Thursday, Aug. 8, William between Fifth and Division will be closed to traffic for water main installation and road resurfacing. Westbound traffic will be detoured northbound on Thompson to westbound on Liberty to southbound on Fourth to William. Eastbound traffic will be detoured northbound on Fourth to eastbound on Liberty to southbound on Thompson to William.
Local traffic will be maintained.
Pedestrian thru-traffic will be maintained on one side of the street at all times.
Fuller Street at Glen Avenue/Fuller Road: Monday, May 6-Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019. On Monday, May 6, construction of an underground, cast-in-place, sanitary sewer diversion chamber in Fuller Street near the Glen Court intersection will begin.
Fuller Street traffic will be detoured to Glen Avenue, East Huron Street and South Main Street for westbound travelers; and to North Main Street, East Huron Street and Glen Avenue for eastbound travelers. Access to the U of M Glen Avenue Parking Structure, as well as the residential housing units along Glen Court will be maintained to Fuller Street. Glen Court traffic will be able to enter and exit from west of the project area. Pedestrian traffic along the southerly side of Fuller Street will be maintained at all times. Access along Depot Street will be maintained to all local area businesses, Wheeler Park and the Amtrak Station. The project will also use portable, changeable message signs to provide additional information and way-finding assistance to users of the area.
Riverview Drive/Dover Place/Huntington Place: Monday, May 6-Friday, Sept. 6. Beginning 9 a.m. Monday, May 6, one lane of vehicular traffic will be maintained along Riverview Drive, Dover Place, and/or Huntington Place with the use of flaggers while construction is occurring. Due to the nature of the construction and the limited working area, the contractor will be allowed to work uninterrupted, with local traffic permitted to pass at the top and bottom of each hour while the work is on-going. **Residents in the work zone are asked to please expect and plan for delays when leaving or returning to their homes.** The roadway will be reopened to traffic at the conclusion of each workday. The city thanks those impacted for their patience and understanding as these improvements are made.
East Huron Street: Tuesday, April 9-August 2019. The following projects by the DDA, DTE and the University of Michigan will result in lane closures on East Huron Street between Third and Glen.
Beginning on Tuesday, April 9, eastbound traffic will be narrowed to one lane from Third Street to Glen Avenue. Westbound traffic will be narrowed to one lane from Fletcher to Main Street.
Pedestrian through traffic will be maintained on one side of the street at all times. Pedestrian access into businesses will be maintained with the use of temporary surfaces (e.g., rubber mats).
All vehicles, including delivery vehicles, will be prohibited from standing or stopping on Huron Street while lane closure(s) are in effect. Violators will be towed and/or ticketed.
North Fifth Avenue between Catherine and Kingsley: Monday, April 15-Monday, Sept. 30, 2019. During this period, intermittent closures of one lane of North Fifth between Catherine and Kingsley will take place for final reconstruction work. Emergency vehicle and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, as will access to intersecting streets and driveways.
Huron Parkway from Hubbard to Baxter: to conclude in Sept., 2019. Right hand northbound lane and sidewalk on the east side are closed north of Hubbard. Southbound lanes are currently open.
Additional congestion is expected due to this project. Drivers should seek alternate routes.
