Girls Hockey: Pioneers score 4-2 win over Grosse Pointe North

The Pioneer girls’ hockey team dominated from the opening puck drop to the final whistle in a solid 4-2 win on Friday over Grosse Pointe North at ESH Ice Arena.

While the score doesn’t appear to be all that lopsided the shots on goal certainly were. Pioneer outshot GPN 20-0 in the first period, 16-1 in the second period and 12-4 in the final period. We will do the math for you – 48-5 total.

Gabby Adams got the Pioneers on the board with a first-period goal assisted by Kayleigh Barricklow and Maya Todd. Pioneer led 1-0 after one.

Pipe Campbell (with assists from Alex Friedman and Ava Drabek) gave Pioneer a 2-0 lead. After GPN scored on its only shot in the first two periods, Rory Campbell (with an assist from Elizabeth Joffe) pushed the lead to 3-1.

GPN scored to cut the deficit to 3-2 in the third period. Friedman scored to make it 4-2 with assists from Drabek and Senna Neubauer.
