U-M Soccer: Women’s Team Announces 2019 Schedule

The University of Michigan women’s soccer team announced Thursday (June 20) its 2019 schedule. The 2019 slate features 11 home matches, including one exhibition contest at U-M Soccer Stadium.

The Wolverines will face six teams that made an appearance in the 2019 NCAA Tournament, five of which are from the Big Ten Conference.

“We are very excited about our 2019 schedule,” said second-year head coach Jennifer Klein. “We put together a great collection of opponents that will make for fun, challenging and exciting soccer matches.”

Klein and the Wolverines will kick off the campaign with an exhibition match against Iowa Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. inside U-M Soccer Stadium. Michigan will open its 2019-20 athletic season Thursday, Aug. 22 when it welcomes Marshall to Ann Arbor for a 7:30 p.m. contest.

Following the home opener, U-M will host Utah Valley (Aug. 25) and Florida Gulf Coast (Aug. 30) before traveling to Marquette for its first road test on Sept. 1.

The Wolverines will go up against Notre Dame (Sept. 6) and Bowling Green (Sept. 8) at home and U-M will close out its non-conference slate with a trip to the west coast, where Michigan will battle Washington State (Sept. 13).

Michigan will finish its season with 11 consecutive Big Ten Conference contests, five of which will be played at U-M Soccer Stadium. The Wolverines open Big Ten play on the road at Penn State and will play their first home conference match Friday, Sept. 27 against Purdue.

U-M will play four road matches in the month of October before closing out the regular season with Rutgers (Oct. 24) and Maryland (Oct. 27) at home.

The Wolverines seek to claim a spot in the Big Ten Tournament, Nov. 3-10, before moving on to the NCAA Tournament Nov. 15-Dec. 8.
