United Way of Washtenaw County Grants Safehouse and Ozone House Technology to Help Homeless Youth

ANN ARBOR – United Way of Washtenaw County (UWWC) in partnership with United Way of Southeast Michigan announced a grant award of Chromebooks, headphones and charging stations to SafeHouse and Ozone House to ensure access to technology to help displaced youth. The investments totaled $20,000.

The goal of the Safe Haven grants are to provide devices and connectivity to the most vulnerable families in our region who are temporarily displaced in emergency shelters, safe-haven programs, and transitional housing. The devices will ensure students have access to technology needed to continue virtual learning opportunities.

“We appreciate the new partnership with United Way of Southeast Michigan that made the Safe Haven grant available to us,” shared Pam Smith, President and CEO of UWWC. “Helping our community thrive, person by person, or region by region, is critical to providing equitable solutions for the challenges we face everyday.”

UWWC will continue to provide new funding opportunities that advance our vision, focus on racism, poverty and trauma, and are informed by current community conditions. We are not a single cause organization and by LIVING UNITED, we are committed to partnering with others to achieve a state where one’s zip code no longer predicts your opportunity in Washtenaw County.
